​In August, HBA Cares partnered with the local nonprofit organization Cheyenne Village to build three ramps in a home for disabled individuals.  Cheyenne Village provides assistance and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  One ramp was built inside of the garage, a second one in the front of the house, and a third around the back of the house.

With the project complete, the house is move-in ready for the new residents, one of whom is a quadriplegic with limited mobility and motor skills in his hands.  He has visited the house and was able to successfully open the garage door by himself and access the ramp that is inside of the garage.  This is the first time he has ever been able to access his residence independently, which will significantly impact his life.

"Cheyenne Village is in the process of upgrading residences for a large number of the people with developmental disabilities receiving services.  As part of that process, a family home was purchased and renovated for accessibility.  HBA Cares volunteers built three beautiful ramps to ensure access to all aspects of the property.  Now, perhaps for the first time in their lives, two individuals who use electric wheelchairs are able to come and go from their home without the help of staff.  I can't tell you how excited they are to be living in a home designed specifically for them.  Words do not express our gratitude for hte work of HBA Cares in making this possible!"
