The Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs (CSHBA) hosts an annual Holiday Party and HBA Cares is given the opportunity to raise funds for our mission of "Connecting community needs to the skills and abilities of the Housing and Building Industry."

HBA Cares received their Raffle License in October and is very excited to be able to raise awareness and funds for our mission.

The CSHBA Holiday Party was HBA Cares’ first opportunity to use the Raffle License and it was a huge success.

We ran a 50/50 raffle, selling 100 chances at $20 each in less than two hours. There was tremendous excitement in the room as the winner of the raffle would walk away with a cool $1000 prize!


Vince Crowell of Garden of the Gods Bank was the winner of the $1,000 prize, and he immediately donated $500 back to HBA Cares. Congrats and a huge Thank You for the Donation go out to Vince!

The 2010 Annual Colorado Springs Housing and Building Association's Rally/Poker Ride to Breckenridge on July 17, 2010 was a great success! People were on Bikes and even in Cars. Some came by themselves, with passengers and even families. The weather was beautiful and it was a great day to go out to play.

Participants collected poker cards to have the best hand and to win the prize. Cards were handed out at the following stops (sponsors in parentheses):

The Colorado Springs Housing and Building Association sold extra poker cards to riders in Breckenridge. HBA Cares received a donation of $355 raised by that sale to support the "Keeping Seniors in their homes longer" program.

HBA Cares also conducted a Cornhole Tournament at the final stop in Breckenridge. The tournament raised $480. The winners of the tournament – Dena Cordova of Foxworth Galbraith and Rob Jasinski of Westech Framing – were challenged to a one game contest. The challengers – Brad Foster of Foster Electric Corp. and Tom Brown (company unknown) – made a $100 donation to HBA Cares on the condition that the tournament winners would match it if they were beaten. The winners agreed to match the donation regardless of the outcome. The challengers won the challenge.

March 23, 2010, the Colorado Springs HBA All Stars took on the Denver HBF All Stars in a friendly game of Hockey.  The puck dropped at 5:30pm and the teams were on their way.  Who would win the opportunity to take home Lord Stanley's Cup?  Denver proved to be a great team to play, they won 5 - 4.  Congratulations to the Denver HBF.  
Plans are already in the works to have a rematch in Denver next year.  Stay tuned for details.

On December 2nd, 2009 at the HBA Holiday Party, the HBA Cares had their first Holiday King and Queen Crowning.
